Indian students have released audio and video clips showing that the Polish government only allows Ukrainian citizens to cross the border.
Indian students trying to flee Ukraine are facing extreme problems there. Indian students stranded on Ukraine-Poland border have told their ordeal that they are not being allowed to enter the Poland border. At the same time, some more students complained that they too had been beaten at the Sheyani-Medayaka border point. This border connects Ukraine and Poland.
Students say through video and audio quizzes that students trying to enter Poland are being stopped. They say some of the girls somehow entered Poland, some of whom were turned away despite the extreme cold.
Witness Ijantakar is a MBBS fourth year student of Live National Medical University, Mumbai. Describing his ordeal, the witness said: “They are only allowing Ukrainians to enter Poland. When we ask them, they allow girls to enter Poland. But they beat the boys. One student had asthma. He was beaten so badly that he started having problems.” Breathing
Today is the fourth day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have entered Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. Fighting is going on in the streets on 26 February.
The witness sent an audio message asking for help. “A lot of people are coming back disappointed. I’m scared for those who are traveling in temperatures below zero,” he said.
Liv is a city in western Ukraine. It is 70 km away from the Polish border. The students of Liv University reached the Polish border on foot, bus and lift for hours, but were not allowed to cross the border.
