Famous singer Lata Mangeshkar, popularly known as Swara Kokila, has been put on ventilator again due to her deteriorating condition. A doctor treating him said this on Saturday.
Lata Mangeshkar, 92, was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on January 8 after being found to be corona positive. He has been admitted to the ICU, where he is being treated under the supervision of a team of doctors led by Dr Pratima Samdani.
“His health is not good. He has been kept in ICU for treatment and has been put on ventilator again,” PTI quoted Dr Prata Samdani as saying. Samdani had earlier reported on January 29 that Lata Mangeshkar’s health had slightly improved and she had been removed from the ventilator and placed in the ICU.
Lata Mangeshkar is considered one of the best singers in Indian cinema. He started his career in 1942 and was only 13 at the time. He has sung many songs in his career of seven decades, which are still etched in people’s minds. These include “Ajib Dastan Hai Yeh”, “Peer Kiya To Dorna Keya” and “Neela Asman So Gaya”.

Lata Mangeshkar also sang the famous patriotic song “A Mere Watan Ke Logan, Zara Aankh Mein Bhar Lo Pani”. The effect of the song was such that when Lata Mangeshkar sang it in memory of the martyrs at the National Stadium in Delhi on January 26, 1983, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was present there, started blowing his whistle. Nehru then said that the one who could not be inspired by this song, I think he was not Hindustani.
Lata is also known as the ‘Sur Samrajni’ of India and she has also been awarded the country’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. Lata has also been awarded Padma Bhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke.
